I've just read all 10 pages of this to make sure I didnt repeat anyone but the drum and axle are tapered like a lawn mower flywheel. It centers as a compression fit with the 1/4" key to keep it from spinning on each other. Working on 40s and 50s era cars and trucks has shown this to be the best tool for this problem, the one you ordered will do the same. and please keep us posted.

I know that doesn't matter to this situation, but just curious. What do your pedals look like?
Thanks everyone for your patience . . .

This is where I am right now;

The brake drum puller is on the drum, castle nut is on. Ready to start turning the center bolt.

I think Memik is right. The 2006 CC Precedent had the rear axle replaced to accommodate the larger 15 inch wheels. Likely a tapered brake drum.

Shall I start turning the center bolt ???

I would take it OFF
OR
You can leave it on but you need to turn it around so that the end with the holes for the cotter pin is facing inwards and only turn it back on 2-3 turns. The nut being on the axle is really to protect it when you banging around with a mallet/hammer.
It may protect the end of the axle to keep it from "mushrooming" when you apply pressure by turning the bolt. However, if it take that much force then we have a problem...... LOL

JUST TAKE IT OFF.

Start turning. If it's not coming off, spray with more WD-40, tap around the edge and walk away. Turn some more, spray, tap and walk away. Hopefully, it comes off easily.

That looks like a EZGO gas pedal? Not like my Precedent.

As Meimk said it most likely came off an old EZGO from the 70's. I found a reference to it online.

When you turn the bolt in go as tight as you dare, then strike the bolt head with a copper mallet if you have one if not an ordinary heavy hammer will work. Just be careful you don't mushroom the head too much. If you do, you can grind it back to shape. Keep turning and striking till the hub moves and it will probably come off suddenly. Don't sit with a leg each side, or your jewels will be the target of a flying drum lol.

Default Success!!

Success!! Got the $&@&$ drum off!!

My neighbor had an impact wrench that made removing the drum easy peasy.

One of the four bolts holding then brake assembly on did fall inside the drum which caused the dragging.

The good news is the drum looks clean and I don’t think I even have to turn it.

Also the brake shoes look ok. I need to get some hardware but over all I’ll be back on the road in no time

Thanks everyone for your help and patience !!

Hallelujah!!!!! Don't know when I've felt so relieved.

Clean and lube per manual while it's apart. Put a little anti-seize on the splines.

Good Luck!

EDIT: Oops, no splines. Nevermind.
