Has anyone made the 4-12V to 6-8V swap???

Has anyone actually performed/had it done the 4-12 volt to 6-8 volt swap on a Precedent? If so...

How difficult?
Is it worth it?
What was the cost?
Where did you get the parts?

I have read alot of debates and am in need of batteries and am on the fence as to what to do. I have 08' Precedent and it is used mainly for golf.

foglejs,...I'm in the same boat and had done a lot of looking and at first I thought that the answer was simple in that so many dealers and golf clubs, as well as Club Car themselves, have all switch back to the 6-8 volt batteries. However, there are many guys on this forum that use the 12 volt system and have had no problems. CC must have done a lot of research and design to make the switch and they clearly had convnced themselves and "Trojan" to invest in 12 volt battery product. Something went wrong and it seems that no one has explained just what that was but CC & Trojan are still sueing each other for the loss they had.

I've been having problems with my 12 volt system (2008.5 CC) since the day I got it even though it had 2010 Trojan batteries. It turns out the golf course ruined them in less than 2 years and this was the 2nd set of batteries for that cart. I have an expensive 12 Volt charger that has been helpful in extending the life of these batteries but they won't last much longer. One thing I like about this system is that when one battery has a problem with one cell I can use the Equalize function and nurse it back to a balance state. Can't fine anything charger to do that for 8 volt systems. Also, there is the large difference in price for the 8volt to 12 volts batts. My CC tub is convertible to 6-8volt batts with very little change. I've read that 2009 CC don't need a change in the controller to proper charge the 8 volts because CC made it an option in 2009 for either 8 or 12 volts units. I'm still not sure about my 2008.5. I'm hoping it has the same controller as the 2009. I don't want to spend another $200. If you find anything out let me know.
