No obc
OK here is what I am doing. I am taking a 1991 resistor cart and pulling everything out. Then I am taking a 48volt series controller out of a stock cart. Adding 48 volts worth of batteries and trying to make a 48volt conversion. Here is the problem. The OBC is what powers up the controller, is ther a way of running this system without an OBC. I have used ezgo diagrams and wired the cart correctly and I can make the selenoid jump and the pot box is reading 0-5K but the cart will not move. Is the OBC the only way to power up controller?

Stewy, I currently have a 96, 48 volt series cart. My OBC is in a cardboard box on a shelf in my shop. So, to answer your question, the OBC doesn't power the controller for a Series cart or mine would not run. Someone chime in a correct me if I am wrong on this statement, but a series cart does not use the OBC to power up the controller. The Regen carts do use the OBC for controller functions. The series system uses the OBC to ground the solenoid and manipulate the charge cycles on your cart. In my situation I ran a jumper wire from the solenoid to the negative terminal that connects to the B- post on the controller to ground the solenoid. The cart runs fine. Hope this helps.
