Default DMM Question

I have a Fluke that's prolly 20 years old and a Wavetek that's at least 15. I've read that cheap DMMs may give faulty readings when the batteries are dying. That's not true for mine.

Is there a good, middle of the road DMM that I can buy for my son, that doesn't get weird when the batteries start going south?

Default Re: DMM Question

I'm having pretty good luck with a couple of Innova/Equus meters.
I use a 3320 (~$25) around the house and 3340 (~$100) in the garage.
I've got another brand that I have semi-permanently mounted on the cart to track motor temp and measure battery pack voltage down to .01V, but the name escapes me at the moment. (I'll have to get the name of it when I get up and around later today. )

My good stuff seldom leaves my workbench.
