RXV Model Years 2 Avoid
I think it is 2008 to 2010? Friend of mine found a used 2010 SN = 5111098. Strange thing he has a picture of the batteries, new US Battery, but I noticed the Resistor Brake not in the picture.

Re: RXV Model Years 2 Avoid
2008 and 2009 were the worst for corrosion within the harness, there were splices that were not so weatherproof. Battery acid can penetrate the insulation and cause the wire inside to corrode. Harnesses improved over the years. I recommend to seek a mid-2012 or newer because the Curtis controller is much better than the Danaher controller that was on the early RXVs. You can sometimes find a bargain on an older RXV and modernize it yourself.

Re: RXV Model Years 2 Avoid
All the electric RXVs have issues. Even the Curtis ones (although not nearly as bad as the 2008 with its handle brake and teeny little solenoid). They're the most computerized cart out there. Unlike Bob though, we have far more reliable results from the later Danahar versions (2010+) and they're far more common here; Seen quite a few folks letting the smoke out of the Curtis ones, replacing them seems more common, while on the earlier ones, replacing the electric brake/solenoid was all you worried about.

THX the SN 5111098 indicates 2010, standard 48 volt electric. I think Steve said the seller is asking $3600 with 4-new US Batteries in it. Low enough to make me ask what might be wrong. Difference maybe a owner instead of a dealer. 2010's around here with new batteries go $4200 to $4600.

Re: RXV Model Years 2 Avoid
My preference for the Curtis controllers has nothing to do with how common they are or how well they hold up. My preference is for the capabilities and the higher drive current capacity of the Curtis controller. When it comes to Danaher RXVs, I would not pay more than $1K for one. But that's me. If you avoid the dealers that buy off-lease RXVs for $2K and resell for $4k, you can find later model off-lease RXVs in good condition for under $3k. Danaher RXVs have not been available off-lease for 3 years or more in this part of the country. The carts coming off-lease in this part of the country currently are 2015s and 2016s. I can source them for under $2.3K, but I'm not interested in them, even at that price. I'm not a dealer, and I don't want to be.
The closer you get to Augusta GA, the more plentiful off-lease carts are. They have thousands to dispose of each year. |

Re: RXV Model Years 2 Avoid
What capabilities? we can only turn them up to 19.5 MPH maximum just like Danahar versions. Worse yet when there are fault codes, the 1311 handheld that talks to Curtis never shows the hour meter reading which the code happened, so it's harder to pinpoint when a certain fault code was set. Danahar handheld shows the exact hours reading said code happened.
Also get tons of codes that obviously are not listed in the manual making it harder to troubleshoot, such as 'Charger Input Supervision' (had to swap controller for new to fix that one) |

Gas RXVs aren't too bad if you like that ******* of an engine they use (seriously not mechanic friendly)
