I have a 2004 EzGo PDS. Custom stretched and upgraded to an AC drive system. 48 volts with the two extra batteries in the bagwell.

That should work. Go for it. If you want to leave it connected to batteries it will draw a small amount of current even if accessories are turned off. If you use cart regularly and keep batteries charged the small current reducer draws should not be a problem. Fuse it and you can remove fuse to disconnect it if necessary.
