Default 1988? EZGO Rust Bucket Needs ??

I have a EZGO Textron [TXT? I guess] Serial number 1071223 MFG. No. A2398 that has major rust issues. The cart ran fine when I got it and still does but the batteries fell through the cage awhile back and other parts of the frame look questionable at this point. The cart runs circles around the new gas carts at the course and the body is mostly okay. Could use a new seat which rotted out and I tried to remake it with new plywood and recovered. I don't have $4000+ to buy a new cart and have already put new batteries and new tires/wheels on this thing. Any sources for getting a new frame or chassis? I live in Port Charlotte, FL and have a trailer. Thanks

well actually.....unless you made a typo, your cart is a lot newer than you thought, as your cart is a 1998 model TXT Standard 36v cart.

as far as the battery rack is concerned, yours bolts in and can be easily be replaced, as you can remove your rotted out and bolt in a new on straight from EZ-GO for $137

https://shop.ezgo.com/products/Six-B...tery-Rack.html

you can also buy the metal pieces that are on either side of the battery tray.

but if it were me, I would totally remove the body and search out ALL of the rusted areas and repair/repaint/coat the frame.....reinstall the body and you will be good to go for a long time. oh and btw.....taking the body off makes it so very easy to put in a new battery tray as well.

OR if you were to find so much rot in the frame.....and don't have to ability to weld in the new material, you could possibility find a decent frame or even buy a complete new frame ($1435) from EZ-Go and it would qualify for free ground shipping!

Had this exact problem, called every golfcart dealer in my area. Got lucky, found a guy 20 min from my house that sold me a golf course trade in model.. he sold me a rolling chassis for $175.00...
Started with a 99, moved up to a 2004 chassis. Moved all my old electronics over and viola..

I think yours has the three bolts on the lower column, the newer 2001+ model has four bolts around the lower steering column. I was unable to find the exact same, but everything worked out fine on the newer 4 bolt steering column version.

Call around

This or like was mentioned, check with a dealer for a frame or roller. One way or the other I would not want to try and repair the frame on yours. I'd bet that you have serious trouble in other spots other than what you can see with the body on.

Sir Nuke, you are correct with the year. Thanks for the info. I looked around today for donor carts but all I could find was $1750 and up for 8-9 year golf course returns/used carts. Most pretty beat up and none that will interchange with mine because of the steering. I tried the guy in California but the shipping will kill me to Florida.

Strip it down to frame, sand and scrape off all loose rust, clean it really well and use por15 metal prep, followed by painting frame with por15. I just did this with my '03. See my build thread in the members ride section for pics. Frame and all metal pieces look brand new now.
