EZGO differential
So I made a stupid mistake and overtightened my motor causing the rear differential housing to crack. I am having a hell of a time locating a used one. The crack is significant, as seen in the picture. Can this be welded as a temporary fix until I can locate a used one???

Re: EZGO differential
Yes BUT...
It will have to be TIG welded and it will have to be clean which means it will have to be removed and disassembled. Even then the welder will have fits because oil impregnates these cases and contaminates the process. Been there / done that. |

Re: EZGO differential
How in the world would over tightening the bolts going thru the top corners of the diff cause it to crack where it did, If anything you would think it would just break where the bolt goes thru.

Re: EZGO differential
I put the rubber bumper in and as I was tightening the motor I still had a signifigant gap and like a stupid a$$ I figured I could get it to pull tight, unfortunately I am now paying for my mistake.... BIG LESSON LEARNED HERE!!!

Re: EZGO differential
When you pull the motor to do the repair/replacement, let us know how many rubber bumpers were installed.
My guess is three or more. |
