Default Curtis 1510AS controller

Does anyone have a digital manual for this. Just installed with new harness. Car seems slow and not clear about the solenoid setup. Do I need a resistor as well as diode?

It is probably the speed code that is programmed into the controller.

And yes, the solenoid should have both of those installed. Pre-charge resistor on the larger post and the diode on the smaller post with the gray band going towards the positive activation side. Some OEM solenoids have these made on them and you will see them or indicators.

Post your picture if you are not sure.

Voltage matters more so looks like you are at 48 volts so the pre-charge resistor is 470 ohms

And for that one a 1 amp diode is sufficient.

Clubcar typically doesn't have the *controller* manual published. But the info I have says it should be 500ohm 5W. If it were a precharge fault the vehicle would likely not move at all. Additionally any speed limiting faults typically drop the vehicle to 2~4mph. If its only a slight speed loss I would agree it is likely the speed mode setting.

SPEED SETTING
1 8.0 mph
2 (See M2 MAX SPEED below, 13.2 mph default)
3 14.8 mph
4 19.2 mph

The diode is technically not needed (assuming you are referring to the one across the solenoid coil) as the controller has internal suppression. However, it won't hurt to have one for redundancy so 1A should suffice.

Thank you for your advice. The diode is already installed by supplier. I will buy a resistor and instal that before any more testing. I am also going to check the outputs on the speed controller to be sure it is functioning correctly.
