Default 2005 ezgo

what should the commpression be on the 295 engine,i just overhauled mine and the commpression is 125 lbs on each cylinder but wont crank,firing is strong and its geting gas

My stock fe350 engine had 175 lbs in both. not sure if 295's have more stock or not. But I'm thinking your a little on the low side.
Some one will post 295's here shortly.
I know you said you overhauled it, but are the valves adjusted correctly. Not trying to be captain obvious..

yes thanks for the reply,.004 on valves,new rings.new cam,new rockers,seals,locks,etc,used old valves,just rebuilt carb also do you think my settings could be off

Settings??? valve adjustment is .004, it's easy to get them to tight. If you did and the valve is not closing, that would explain a lot. the springs are very light, it's east to over tighten the adjusting screw.

Cam timing is ok ??

You say it turns over but won't start ???? A little more info please.

125 is BAD - You should be around 165 or higher...

it's firing good but the carb starts spitting as its turning for such along time,what i was asking about carb settings is there a certain position the jets should set,all timing marks were lined up accordding to the manual

i can work the chock and it seams to be trying to crank but just doesn't kick off

like mike said 125lbs is really low but it should still run, did you have the valves out of the head? if so did they go back in the same way they came out? if you did not lap them back to the seats they will leak. are you getting air pushing back though the carb.

yes i lapped them before going back in i dont think its blowing air,but it is spitting gas out after its turned over for a good while
