Brake cable won't mount after lift is installed

Hi all,

First, I'm sorry for asking this because I'm nearly positive its been asked and answered before, I just can't find it.

I'm putting the finishing touches on my Z lift install and the rear brake cables are too tight to be clipped back in place with the stock cable brackets that clip into the rear leaf spring mounts. Is there a "best" solution for this? I suppose I could just zip tie them somewhere but I was hoping for something cleaner.

Two things. Check TahoeDawg pinned thread on how to flip the brake mechanism upside down. This would absolutely eliminate your issue. Essentially you flip the drum from bottom to top.

Now if you don’t want to do this you can take off the bracket piece that wraps around the Line, modify it and move it’s position, and try to secure back on the front leaf shackle.

I strongly recommend method 1 or you’re going to have wheel lock up and over stretched cables.

If you're saying you can't install the small wire clip (like a differently shaped paper clip?) just use a plastic zip tie through the stock mounting hole for the clip. Quick, easy, effective.

The brake-flip trick would definitely fix this issue, but this is common and it doesn't hurt anything except for the cables hanging down are such an eyesore and prone to snag on stumps and tree limbs. If you're not gonna do the brake flip, get a big wide zip tie and tie it up. You're not gonna be able to tuck it up as high as the factory cable hanger would get it, but you'll get it close.

thanks y'all. I guess I'll just zip tie it, they're hanging down but not lower than the axle so its not too big of a deal. Plus this is just a campground cart so running over branches and such won't happen too often.
