Re: Need advice on electric motor replacement
The SR controller allows 3 speed limit options.
1. program a general speed limit. 2. install FN1 speed dial 3. Use any toggle switch to switch between 2 preset speed modes. |

Re: Need advice on electric motor replacement
Awesome. Thank you so much for the help.
ThreeCW, with my automotive experience it was not exactly making sense to me either but in the research I have done, and a local golf cart tech I talked to, that is the conclusion I have come up with. If I measure from battery last negative to the frame I get 48 volts but will not hold any amperage. So fantom voltage until you hit the accelerator. If you use a test light from battery last negative to frame and hit the accelerator pedal, if it is not a 48v test light it will light up and pop the bulb immediately. The only feed I can find pushing voltage is between the motor “s” terminals and the case. If they are disconnected no more frame voltage. |

Re: Need advice on electric motor replacement
The motor brushes are made of conductive carbon. As they wear they turn to dust which coats everything inside the motor to the point of being a conductor of voltage to the frame... remove the motor and while wearing a eye and breath protection blow all the dust out of the motor. This should eliminate most of the ghost voltage from the motor. I hope this helps

Re: Need advice on electric motor replacement
Got the new Admiral motor in today and installed it. No more voltage on my frame. Thanks for the advice on this. I am waiting on the batteries to charge back up to see if there is any speed difference. I forgot to plug it in so I only did a quick spin on it with the batteries almost dead.

Re: Need advice on electric motor replacement
Good to hear that you are back running again
Did you do a post mortem on the old motor to determine what went wrong? |
