Default 2002 DS flooded 2 years ago - any hope?

Friends,

We bought a home in January that came with a 2002 DS that was flooded during Hurricane Matthew in 2016. We were never able to meet the previous owners, and don't know what was done after the flood to try to save the cart. The cart was kept on a raised platform, about 12" off the ground, but the flood was 2.5'. Assuming nothing was done beyond rinsing, is there any hope after sitting for 2 years? Otherwise, it was kept in very nice shape, and had new batteries.

thanks!

I don't need to know how to do it - I just need to know if it's worth even trying!

definitely worth saving, if you have a need for a golf cart
aluminum frame and fiberglass body, all else can be replaced with oem or upgraded parts
lots of builds here gut out all the oem motor, controller and obc and can be bought for cheap

i'd start by seeing if you can recover the batteries and then decide what to do

Are the brakes locked up? Does the motor turn? Do the batteries have a charge? Is it an IQ system?

Sorry, lots of stuff we need to know. Upload some pictures!

Where are you Bluewater? Was it saltwater or fresh water?

Yep. It’s worth it. You basically have a free platform...... even if you have to gut the whole thing

We're in Cherry Grove, at the very north end of North Myrtle, so definitely salt water. Wheels don't turn at all, we haven't tried charging the batteries, and the solenoid is sitting on the dash. Here's the only picture that I have - it will be 2 weeks before we get back down there. Thanks!

It’s pre-2000 but the front seat has been replaced. The brakes are probably rusted up, and/or the motor. Stuff I see all the time here in Savannah. Definitely worth fixing!

Looks like it is definately worth the effort to fix up. I agree with Luke get the brakes freed up, pull the motor and see if it is salvageable and go from there.
