Applying 42v to a stock 36v series txt motor and controller??
Hey guys I'm sure someone has either done this or tried it. I'm just wondering if I can add a 7th battery to my txt 36v series ezgo to bump it up to 42v without breaking anything? It it's a stock motor and controller???

The motor will take it no problem, the controller not so much. How do you plan on charging it?

Like handtools said the only safe way to do this is with a 48v controller and solenoid.
I bought a cart once that had 48v batteries in with the stock controller. I never ran it but the seller drove it enough to sell and deliver it. Would it have lasted another ride, another day, another month? There was no way to know. Let us know if you try it. |

You could try to leave the activation circuit at 36 volts by moving the red wire from the charger port such that it only uses 6 batteries. Not ideal but would stand a better chance.

Dang, from the sounds of it I shouldn't do this. I read some where that you could. But I probably won't risk my sweet mini ride

42 volts works with resistor carts just fine - no computer components involved. Controller carts are much more specific. I wouldn't try it unless you ready to upgradecide the controller now - in which case you'll want 48 volt instead of 42.

And if you try this. You will be putting 44.59 volts through the controller on a full charge
