Default Club Car DS resistor cart.

I'm really not familiar with these things. Lady told me her batteries were so dead that the charger wouldn't come on. I attached jumpers from my 36v cart (main pos's and main neg's) to hers and the charger came on. Normally it takes 10-15 minutes before removing the cables and the charger will stay on after that. Charger wouldn't work without being attached to my cart. So I tested batteries, they were as full as can be so it's not them. No click from Solenoid. My question is: In a resistor cart, if the solenoid is bad will that keep the charger from turning on?? Her cart wont drive and will not charge unless hooked to my cart with cables. Help?

All you need is the minimum voltage present in the charger receptacle... test there with your meter.

Not totally sure I understand. The pack is reading 41v on a 36v cart. I don't think it's the receptacle because the cart won't run at all. Charger works fine when connected to my cart via jumper cables but won't turn on when removed.

I'm kind of trying to figure out if it's the solenoid because I'm not hearing a click.

As Michaels Scott once said "speak to me as if I'm a 7-year old. LOLZ

So 2 questions
#1 is why will the charger not come on?
#2 why does the solenoid not click?
Correct?

I suggested you check for voltage in the receptacle. See question #1

For question #2 you will have to identify which resistor coil drive system you are asking about or ID the year of the cart.

To test the solenoid...Put your meter on the 2 small terminals on the solenoid...Key on...Lever in forward..Step on the go pedal...You should see pack voltage on your meter...If you do and the solenoid doesn't click, change the solenoid...If you don't test the key switch and micro switches..As far as charging, do you have a fuse on the charger terminal..What year is the cart..

It's a 2000 club car DS. I just realized I was assuming that the charger issue and possible solenoid issue were one in the same. It's possible there are two things wrong here. There is a yellow inline fuse and I checked it, looks good.
I was just thinking that maybe if the solenoid was bad it might be the reason the charger won't come on (unless attached to a 2nd cart via jumper cables)

I really haven't dealt with these resistor DS carts much at all and my electrical knowledge is about equal to what you'd learn in your first 20 minutes of electricians school. Haha.

More infoA "yellow inline fuse"? Sounds like an OBC fuse, which means 48 volts not 36, which means 41 volts would be a problem. Can you give us the serial number off the cart, tag below the center right side of the dash.
I know you said it's a resistor cart, but I've seen people confuse regen brake parts.

How many fill holes on each battery...3 on each would be a 6v battery..6vx6=36v..
4 on each would be an 8v battery....8vx6=48v...

I had a guy at work a year or so ago trying to troubleshoot his cart.

He thought the 36v batteries were dead.

I said.... "Are you sure its a 36v cart ?"

He gave me a blank, dumbfounded stare.

The next day he updated me on his investigation.

Sure enough... he had a 48v cart with 6x6v batteries in it instead of 6x8v's.
