Default Differance in 4 stroke engines Matathon vs TXT

I have 2 EZGO engines. One from a Marathon & one from a TXT. The breather systems are differant on the 2 engines. The Marathon engine does not have the hose going from the breather to the bottom of the block like the TXT. There is also an extra hole inside the block where the breather goes, Any idea when & why this change was made?

The red engine is the Marathon
