97 EZ-go Problem
I have a 97 EZ-Go that has a has a problem going forward. I can press the gas pedal and it won't go. The solenoid clicks but no go. I can pump it and it will jerk forward off and on. It started doing this last year as I hit bumps the power would turn off and on. This would indicated a loose cable or bad foot pedal control. But it works fine in reverse.
My cart has had the controller swapped to a solid state one before I owned the cart. I can't see any marking on it but I have not pulled it out. It looks black with heat fins like a CURTIS controller. Anyway does any one know what the reverse micro switch wire does to a controller? The voltage goes from 36 to open with the rotation of the forward reverse lever. Does a controller reverse current between forward and reverse? I know current direction is swapped between forward and reverse (in the forward/reverse switch) but is there anything else? I still will replace any marginally looking cable and tighen all connection (and have done a little already) but I'm just look for any more insight. any help is appreciated Thanks |

Re: 97 EZ-go Problem
But it works in reverse that would indicated to me that all of the pedal box is working fine. I check the revese micro switch at the forward reverse switchand it is working fine.

Re: 97 EZ-go Problem
Check EVERY large cable with a good tug and twist. Make sure you check the 4 cables attached to the motor. Also, inspect EVERY control circuit wire, and microswitch.
Can you provide any pics of the battery bay? |

Re: 97 EZ-go Problem
I will check all of the cables.
Is it wrong for me to assume that if it works in reverse that all of the major current carring cables are ok? It seem to me that all of the exact cables and connection used to go in reverses are used to go forward. I have been concentrating on the forward/reverse switch and the controller. Tonight I plan of swapping out any cable that even looks a little bad and trouble shoot the controller. |
