What is better, MCOR or three prong potentiometer?
I am installing a 500 amp controller and a high torque motor in my 96 CC. I need to know what is better, the original three prong grey potentiometer or the MCOR system? I have already upgraded every thing else.

Correct me if I am wrong but, I believe there is a potentiometer inside the MCOR

Re: What is better, MCOR or three prong potentiometer?
The original 3 prong potentiometer isnt available anymore as far as I can find? Actually in 1996 they had two different units from factory that I have seen, some came with earlier model unit and then about mid year came out with another unit, both can be replaced with factory parts kit with MCOR, wiring, and linkage adaptions but very expensive. Many forum members go with the Curtis PB-6 unit, But there is some small changes needed to linkage but not bad if you are mechanically inclined.

Personally I prefer the MCOR unit, but either works fine. As Old Mec said, there is another way as well, which is to modify and go to the PB-6 unit.
Old Mec, the Potentiometer that uses the grey plug is still available as an aftermarket part. I know because I have one lmao..... |

RABBITREBORN-- Where is the after market 3 prong grey unit available from, and what was price? I for one have the old grey unit as my cart is an early 1996 and I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak?

I believe you can buy the gray-box unit or the Pot inside separately .... pretty reasonable on the Pot alone.

MCOR all the way. The old school pot-box is junk. We replace every one we see with MCOR units just because we know they're gonna be a problem down the road.

Re: What is better, MCOR or three prong potentiometer?
Spoken like a true dealership tech Seriously are you saying the Potentiometer is junk? If you are replacing them today they have done 15 years duty...Show me some 15 yr old MCORS? Pots are the most common type of variable in/out put in use today in both ac&dc, no?
My question remains ..... Does or does not the MCOR have a pot in it? |

Re: What is better, MCOR or three prong potentiometer?
Personally my preference for the MCOR stems from the fact it's virtually a sealed unit. The old school POT under the gas pedal was way too open for it's location. To answer Scotty's Question though... I would assume so, but I have never dismantled one.....
