Default restoring old 8 volt batteries???

I read on the internet that there is a product out there you can buy at any drugstore or walmart to put in your old batteries to make them perform like new again. They don't say what the 2 mixtures are because they want to sell you something, but it is suppose to be a dry powder combination of some sort. Has anyone out there ever heard of this or is it to good to be true. Just wondering, as I need to replace my 2004/2005 batteries in my club car. Thanks tinderman

It's a fabled myth..... If such a product were actually on the market, would batteries really cost so much?

I'm not saying this works, but you can buy it at the local drug store.

Hey thanks for the cool link to restoring old batteries. Does sound like..Epsom Salts would do the trick, though having to take old batteries out and drain them would be a real pain...(Ouch) literally and a bit dangerous to attempt I'd think. About all I can do to lift one of those heavy things in and out. I'll keep this info though. I guess (spoiled rotten) is testing out a way to restore old batteries too, so I'll check him out as well. Happy carting. Thanks again.

I'm testing my refurbishing of the 6volts, this weekend on the golf course. I'll post how mine turned out. I got out and ran it some yesterday afternoon for the first time since the charge back, but don't know if it's any better or the same as before.

Thanks, I really hope it works. I did try adding epsom salts to each battery cell, but I just can't get the batteries to drop below 8 on the charge meter, even after 16 Hrs or more at a time of charging. 4 of my batteries are "2004's" and 2 are..."2005's. Seems like they test fine at 8.48 or better and I have a brand new charger but just can't get them to juice up and stay up. Changed battery cables and added a special fused wiring harness to the excisting wiring in the front of the cart by the run tow switch. A cart sales in Champaign, il. said that little fused harness I added should get the cart to recognize the batteries and help with charging as well as the slowing down of it uphill, of course they did say it may take a few times of charging, so far the only improvement it has show is more pep and maybe runs a few blocks more before going down to almost nothing on hills again. Thanks again for any info. tinkerman

Cart is at campground 30 miles away, but I should be down there sometime this week and I will take a photo of the wiring harness I added. Can't say as it helped a whole lot though.

I found a part # and discription fo a similiar looking part I added to my electric 2002 regen controller system on buggies unlimited. You can look up this # to see it: item # 576 called: (NLA) Harness, IQ Regen: GE Controller. A side note....They want $40.99 for it, and I only paid 15.00 for mine at battery specialist + golf cars cgd in Champaign, il.
