well i have like 400 to spend on one, and believe me i have been staring at craigslist for the past 2 weeks.

Everything, and I mean everything that I've seen in your price range is in need of:
1. Batteries
2. Engine/electric motor.
3. Tires
4. Axle (usually front or rear is missing)
5. Rust repairs
6. Wiring
7. Everything else

Around here (VA) a wore out EZGO (mid-late 80's up to early 90's) will bring between 800-1000, then you might get lucky and the batteries will last for a couple of months. Nothing newer, that is in drivable condition sells for less than around 1200.00-1300.00 and good condition carts come in around 1500.00-2200.00 with NO ADD-ONS!

Having said that, sometimes a bargain can be found. Keep you eyes open and check around the golf courses and retirement communities. Check the bulletin boards around grocery stores and visit your local golf cart mechanic. Ebay and Craigslist can give you a good idea on what the going price is in your area, and anything that needs shipping is going to cost you at least 100.00-200.00 depending on the distance. Local carts are usually delivered for free up to 25 miles, and 25.00-50.00 for longer distances.

Good luck, and remember that "Retailers" sell at RETAIL prices! If you have a wholesale budget, stay away from a deal that sounds too good to be true, check out the cart completely before ever handing money over!!!

Arcitech pretty much nailed it!!! If you want to see what it takes to revive a $200 beater cart, click on Ike's link in my sig.. You'll see a teardown and rebuild of a $200 "Ike Cart".. All that's left to finish him up is paint, to date, there is just over $3500 invested in the rebuild.. In addition to the salt water damage to all the electronics, there was all the normal wear & tear of a 1996 model cart to be tended to..
