Thats an old wives tale from the fortys.Come on and quit living in the past.batteries dont dicharge on concrete.I guess you put vasaline on the termiminals too. Right?

Actually its not an old wives tale from the fortys.....its was true... Back then the battery case was made of a rubber combination material that was semi porous and some acid would sort of seep through the case. Sitting on concrete the acid would make a connection and drain the battery. Todays cases are made of a VERY different material and they won't discharge thru the concrete like the old ones did. Old beliefs are hard to overcome and a LOT of people still think and say that a battery will drain itself on concrete and still put a battery on wood.

Ok here is a good reason to set on wood or mat, battery acid will react on concrete, cheaper to throw out a piece of wood than have to replace concrete. In some places limestone is used in concrete which reacts to acid, this does kill batteries. Either way will keep on wood or chemical resistance mat, cheaper than new batteries, or fixing a floor crumbling from battery acid.
