Re: batteries
The OBC will automatically initiate an equalization charge every 30 days once it "wakes up." Granted, if you disconnect the battery pack for an extended period of time (3 days or longer, I think) the 30 day counter will reset. The equalization charges are typically 130-140% return.
There are other ways to equalize the batteries, but for safety and potential battery damage reasons, I won't publish. |

Re: batteries
A lot of chargers do this automatically , by increasing the voltage at the end of the charge which reduces the amps and equalizes the batteries some.
It is not the best equalization, but helps extend battery life . |

Re: batteries
The OBC based systems generally deliver 110% return, then 130-140% for the equalization. Some competitive chargers (no OBC required) deliver a "sawtooth" equalization; 120%, then 106%, then 120%, etc.
The OBC has its ups and downs. It returns what is taken out following the last discharge cycle. This is ok, but what if there is a weaker battery/cells in the pack? Non-OBC chargers (dummy chargers) charge up to a certain voltage no matter what was taken out, bringing up the weaker battery/cells. Dual-Pro chargers in TN is a good charger. |
