Default 1998 club car

This may be a stupid question but here it goes!

I just bought a club car without batteries....how do I know if its a 6 or 8 volt that I need??

if its 6 volt the cart will have a computer.....look drivers side rear at the black cable thats hanging there does it go up thur the center of a flat square thingy? if so thats the OBC its a 48 volt and if not good chance its 36 volt....................

Well.....its a 48 volt cart! The crazy thing is I bought brand new 6 volt batteries and put them in before I realized this and the cart ran great! The only reason I caught it was the charger was max'ed out and the wires were getting hot due to the charger being 48 volt!

WHoa ~ whoa ~ what!?

If the charger port is round (three prongs) it is a 48v cart...... if the charge port is set up for a 2 blade
Crows foot ( / \ )type plug then it is 36v....

scotty i think the round one........it will run with 6 volt batteries that are new but its not gonna charge right at all and charger will quit working so get the 6 volts out and the 8 volts in....................................
