Default Cart will only run full speed for 3 seconds

My 2005 Club Car Precedent will run very slow then full speed for 2 to 3 seconds then back to slow, randomly it will kick in like a brake is applied and the reverse sound will come on. It sat for a almost two weeks prior to this and I almost completed 18 holes before it started. The batteries are 3 years old and I just installed a plum quick motor a month or so ago. I tend to think it is in the computer, but I dont know. Is there anyway to effectively reset the computer? Thanks

welcome to BGW.................i don,t think its computer related or do you mean controller? anyways if your motor has a speed sensor it seems they are a bit of a problem and there is a simple test you can do to find out if its faulty you have to push the cart by hand a few feet but i,m not sure how to exactly do it..........but from your post and with it beeping i think your gonna find that sensor is bad.........if you wait a few of these guys can give you exact test or serch thur the posts for the last 3 weeks or so the test is in here in a few different post..............................

this is with a PQ motor and I have read they change/modify the speed sensor somehow! Don't know if this is true or not !
you may need to call PQ and see if they disable/modify the Speed Sensor

could be motor, controller, mcor ?? anything getting hot motor, wires, controller ??

do a search for
Bench Testing a Speed Sensor
on this site

I spoke with PQ this morning and he stated that I needed to run it this evening to see which is getting hotter the controller or motor. It could also be speed controller, but the beeping and slowing down was the kicker. He also mentioned checking all connections to the motor. It was odd because I was on hole 16 and it just started in the middle of crossing a fairway with a lull.

search for post with the words "SPEED SENSOR"

with the key on (switch set to forward ) push the cart ( 2 men) and see if the reverse beeper warns you of cart movement.
if no noise the speed sensor is not telling you the cart is running away..hense a bad sensor

There was a bad connection in the triangular connector. I sprayed it with connector cleaner and it ran fine.
