05 DS Front Wheel Hub
All,
I recently put on a replacement tire on my passenger front side. It's standard for the club car 05 DS. After about 2 months, I made a right turn and the lug nut bolts broke away from the hub (picture attached). I'm planning to order this replacement part Two questions: 1) Do any of you see any issues with the replacement part? 2) Can you over tighten lug nuts on these tires? It looks like the the break is exactly the same for all four bolts. Thoughts on tightening the nuts because they are all probably too tight if that's the case. Thank you! Hub 1.jpg Hub 2.jpg |

Re: 05 DS Front Wheel Hub
The part you linked to is $22 the list price on that part more than 3.5 times that. Needless to say you have found the lowest price on the internet ~ now, what was the question?
Oh, yeah. Quality. |

@scottyb
I understand about quality. The comparisons of descriptions with other retailers seemed to check out. What about over tightening lug nuts? I'm worried I will have this problem with the other tires. I am amazed at how something like that breaks. Last edited by GreyGhostIU; 06-30-2011 at 12:08 AM.. Reason: Typos |

Re: 05 DS Front Wheel Hub
Correct Club Car part # 102357701 list price is $63.48 plus shipping. I always use a torque wrench on lug nuts ( 55-60 ft lbs ) and repeat tightening at least three times after driving for awhile each time. I hand tighten lugs first and then going criss cross pattern slowly bring up to final torque.
I see so much poor quality after market replacement parts now days that I always check fit of parts. I use thin layer of childrens clay around hub to wheel surfaces to confirm contacts. After market ( especially alloy wheels ) are often not machined flat and in one case required 6 wheels before finding a straight one? |
