Then again I had to pay for a tap and die and shipping onit to fix the cheap piece o crap anyway. Ya just can't win it seems. Oh well..........it actually works pretty good now that I cleaned up the threads on it.
Was the puller you ordered "gold tinted" or "black tinted"? The gold ones are Knock offs and the black ones are heat treated. You are a wise man for ordering the tap and die set, once you damage the fixed sheave threads, cutting and breaking and a new fixed sheave is useually in order. I've also seen the crank threads damaged with the knock off pullers. Glad you got it worked out, thanks for posting so others could learn.

Dang it. I got the gold one. Wish I'da found that information before ordering. For what I paid I probably could've gotten the good one.

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured too. I know I'll be back in there again and glad to have the tools. Also picked up a nice new die handle I've been needing for quite some time.

I always try to post up potential pitfalls in hopes it'll save someone else time, money and frustration.

I also got one of those gold pieces of crap once. I also had to get the tap and die. Still was a piece of crap after trying to fix it. Called Yamaha, they sent me an OEM clutch puller bolt for a G1. Worked the first time, no problems. I hate crap!
