since you have already sprung for the batts, i would go johnies route and swap out the f&r switch and the controoler, and add new cables. then you will have a like new cart. carts unlimited sells a package, less the cables, for about 450-500. you should also see an improvement in torque. you can do this yourself if you can read and twist a wrench or two. the only hang up i see is finding the linkage for the f&r switch.

I'm pretty handy with a wrench. Just don't know much about the electric carts. I'm not where I can look right now but I have a gas ezgo too that I'm rebuilding. Would the f/r switch be the same? Also, what can I do to see if the motor is still good. Hook some cables to it? If so, what terminals do I hook them too? And is there anything I can do to see if the controller is good. I really thing its the f/r switch or the controller that is the problem but thats just an uneducated guess.

i don't know if the gas f/r switch is compatible with an electric cart, but those switche

s are pretty simple to take apart and check.. there are parts available for them. there is a way to check the motor. put the cart on jack stands and use jumper cables to the motor terminals. problem is i forget which ones.

if you are on a real tight budget you may be able to p/u the parts you need from some one who upgraded their cart. just post in the for sale forum.

Gas and Electric F&Rs have two completely different functions.
I have the original DCS F&Rs used with 2 good micro switches and handle for $50 which is a bargain cuz the DCS micro switches alone are $30 each. PM me if you want to go the restore route.
