I know the boom feeling! My wife and I were on my mother in laws cart a few years ago, and when we went turned around to head home, BOOM. The cart lasted about 75 more feet. :) It also blew the top off of 1 or 2 batteries.

When you said " passenger " side battery, it's a good thing no one was sitting next to you! I've had two batteries blow up on me! One was in a tractor and the other was in a car. Both times I had just hit the starter! Batteries are basically bombs and all they need is an ignition source to light off the hydrogen - oxygen mix! Why your cart backed up twice, but wouldn't move forward sounds weird, but I'm sure there's an explanation for that. I know when folks were golfing and a cart would go dead, it would still back up!

they,ll still go backwards because they are 1/2 speed reverses and reguire a little less......as to why it blew?? you,ll never know but be sure it was a defect and not much more....................................

Did you feel the seat move when it blew? Or was it only heard and not felt?

I'm not for sure, they where on the cart when i bought it. they are black with 3 individual white fill caps and a sticker that says C-5.

that explains why it would back up but wouldn't go forward. still odd none the less and i'm still waiting for another bang when i step on the pedal :)

It happen so fast I didn't feel really feel the seat lift per-say, but did hear the bang. my co workers where about 300 feet away and they said they felt it.
