Rear seat trailer hitch
I have a rear seat on my cart and I would like to install a trailer hitch. I see there are basically two options after visiting the various site sponsors sites. One being purchase a hitch specifically designed for rear seats and the other to purchase a conventional hitch and add an 18" class 2 extension to clear the the foot rest of the back seat. I plan on using my cart to pull my lawn trailer, broadcast spreader, and a pull behind liquid spreader with a 26 gallon tank. The thought of pulling a sprayer with a 26 gallon tank concerns me with a hitch bolted to the footrest of the back seat. The conventional hitch bolted to the frame with the extension seems safer but the price is about double. Wondering if anyone has had any expeirance with either set up and could provide some feed back. Thanks as always

Re: Rear seat trailer hitch
One thing to consider is ground clearance. When I had four passengers, I would occasionally bottom out, before I bought HD springs. By "bottom out", I mean, the foot rest would scrape the concrete. That only happened when going up a driveway at faster than recommended speeds. Adding something below the foot rest could make that situation worse.

Re: Rear seat trailer hitch
Thanks for the feedback guys. Yurtle, I have a 6" drop axle lift with 22" tires so ground clearance should not be an issue, appreciate you pointing it out.
Monkey - 1, I checked out your site, looks like the best option for the price that I have come accross. I will try and get some pics this weekend and a few measurement. Youngest daughters birthday party and going across the pond Sunday night for a week. If I don't get it this weekend I will get in touch with you before month end. Thanks |

Re: Rear seat trailer hitch
I am in the same situation. The rear seat that I bought has a foot rest that is less than extremely sturdy. What I was looking for was a hitch that would bolt to the frame (where the rear seat bolts) and then have it extend to the foot rest and bolt to it. That would make my foot rest more sturdy as well. I just need to find some one with some welding skills, and a little bit of steel.
