Default Keyswitch or Solenoid

I have a EZGO RXV, i am hooking up a relay to turn the power on to my reducer for all my accessories (cd player, gps, lights etc..). My question is which is better to pull the "on/off" 48V from, the keyswitch or the solenoid?

I trigger my relay from the key switch. The solenoid cycles too much.

My stock EZGO converter pulls the on/off from the solenoid, and the power from the battery pack.

It has a seperate wire that ties into the opposite (non-batterypack) side of the solenoid. Keep in mind this is a 48v connection. That is used to turn the converter on/off.

Don't know your particular installation, and I respect ScottyB's advice. Just adding my 2-cents.

My cart is for hunting....so it's a different set up completely.....but it's 48-volts. However, for the winch, headlights, and the 12-V power outlet, I have a separate 12-V auto battery that I charge separately with a trickle charger.

When I get "stuck", which isn't that often, I don't use the power of my 8, 6-V cart batteries. I just use my 12-V car battery. I've never been stuck to the point where I've simply drained the 12-V down to nada.

FWIW

I don't know about your particular converter, I can only speak for my installation and the included instructions which I attached to my orginial post.

Like I said, beware it is 48v at the solenoid.
