Re: Batteries leak out of speedy caps?
I'm new to all of this too.
Father in law recently gave us a 48volt cart with US batteries with those speed caps They leaked the same way, and they were not over filled. Just a mess. Well my batteries were 10 years old and had a couple bad cells. Just boought Trojan replacements last weekend, but of course when i pulled the old ones the battery racks were very corroded. I have some repair work to do, so I don't yet know how the Trojans will be. If your batteries are still ok, i would still reccomend pulling them pout and thouroghly cleaning and painting your battery rack.... unless that car of yours has some sort of box or pan.... |

Re: Batteries leak out of speedy caps?
In my lengthy RXV problem thread I have talked about battery issues, and asked if anyone would like a more detailed battery thread. No takers yet.
I have studied deep cycle batteries on the internet, including extensive time on forums with experts, communications with the key person in that area with the major golf cart battery manufacturers and cart manufacturers, and with battery dealers. I have been responsible for two fleets of Club Car Precedents and two fleets of EZ Go RXVs. I have dealt with the problems associated with two brands of autofill systems. Everything in this thread is accurate, that if there is not an air gap at the top of each cell, the gases formed during charging will push the fluid out of the cap on each cell in order to escape. But, even when there is an air gap, as there appears to be here, it still happens. You can look at the floor in any golf course cart barn and even in the staging area near the clubhouse, and see the acid stains. So, even when you do everything right, you do not always get the right results. |
