Default DS will not roll (NOT Brakes)

48v DS series cart, circa 1997.

Field coil post lose and twisting on motor. Looked like the original factory connection which had worked fine for 20 years (i.e. I do not think it just came lose or someone turned without using second wrench)

Rolled on and off trailer fine. Later after unload cart would not move, only slide. Jacked up, removed brake drums. Each axle would spin with no resistance on other side.

Replaced wheels, Lower jack, cart will not roll. I am guessing motor froze or rear end? Are either of those common?

I am wondering if something was binding before which overloaded the motor and caused the post to burn off. Or, the issues could be unrelated.

You hit the nail on the head. You have had an internal failure. Just pull the motor off and inspect. There is nothing else that would cause what you have that I know of. It will be easily identified upon inspection.

I will get motor off later today and see. In the meantime, just so I will have something to worry about, Would your best guess be motor or rear end?
