Default g1 fuel pump

Hello Guys,

I have a j10 g1 I was thinking of getting rid of the factory fuel pump and using a frame mount auto style electric pump. I thought I would tee off the out bound side of pump then put two valves one side looping back the tank the other side to the carb. I think this would allow me to meter the fuel to carb at a low enough rate so that it would not flood it out. Has anyone ever tried this?
Thanks

Much cheaper and easier to buy aftermarket lawn tractor fuel pump for like $20. Uses 1/4" lines and looks like the one below.

Hi, I ended up replacing the diaphragm, it works but just barely I think I may have seals going bad on the crankcase. I see a little oil by the clutch. That may be the main problem with fuel, not enough vacuum. A soon as I get the carb back together. I am going to check the crank case vacuum. Thanks for asking.
