Installed the Facet 40105 today. Most expensive pump yet. We will see how it does ?

I have ran several days with the Facet fuel pump. It is very quiet and did not change the carb tune needed for my modded VC 460.

A quick recap of the fuel pump story. Stock yamaha G 14 pump on stock engine 6 years no issues. Stock yamaha pump on gen 1 VC 460 2 years no issues. Every pump I tries on the highly built VC 460 failed except so far the Facet unit BUT this is only the second season. Shepard's tale the same ! He got so frustrated with fuel pump failures he switched to a gravity feed system.

Shepard inspired me to build my gravity fed system, I wish I could have had more interaction with him.

He was the clone master. His presence is greatly missed An interesting note not much appeared here because we were both terrible typist. He because of his severe physical disability and me because of being a 2 finger typist. He was so rural that he used a sat phone early on.

Thank you for referring me to this thread.

I thought I was going crazy having to continually replace the fuel pump. Figured I was needlessly replacing them. Many of the threads that I have read over the last couple years dealing with stock carts, the posters would say that the fuel pump is rarely the issue, but it appears with a clone it must be. Probably doesn't help that no ethanol fuel is hard to get in my area. (requires about a 1 1/2 hour round trip) so I have to run ethanol fuel in my cart.

The Facet pump seems nice, but dang they are proud of them. She's pricey. But I suppose you figure how many stock vacuum pumps are you going to replace to equal one.

Looks like I would have to run a return line though with an electric pump?

Every pump I have used a return line was needed. My acid test for a pump is to run 2+ miles @ 5K + rpms on a 90 degree + day. The pulse pumps do not seem to like rpms. I would add here Shepard, also running a highly modded VC 460 got so tired of pump failures he went to a high mounted fuel tank and gravity feed. P.S. Nothing quite like The Walk of Shame and Tow of Shame when you are 2 miles from home and the fuel pump fails. Priceless
