Default Golf Cart Completely Died Going up a Steep Hill

2004ish Ezgo 36 volt golf cart. It didn't get sluggish or slow down like the batteries were running out, it just died. I had to tow it back to the house and now it will not move. When I press the accelerator I can hear a faint click type sound but thats it. No idea what happened or how to fix it.
