Default need help with carb issue

So I took my carb off of my vanny 16 with 2 barrel carb. I installed a new billet intake and had to reroute my cable. I took the carb apart to clean it and now it runs like crap. Its leaking gas into the new intake soaking the filter. I ran it without the filter and i can see backfiring going on on one side of the venturi. Ive tried adjusting both idle screws and nothing helps. Also takes a while for it to return to idle. Where should I look first?

Just thought of something. Does the nikki 2bbl carb have different size jets for either side? When I took them out to clean them I never looked to see if they were different side to side

Messed with it some more. I can get it to idle but as soon as you give it some throttle it spudders and backfires through the intake. I went from another 90 degree elbow and crappy filter to this. Think im too lean? Im not sure where to get parts for this carb as its different from all the other 2 barrel nikkis.

I know some guys have messed with those carbs and had decent results. The one I had I could never get it right, just like what yours is doing. Ended up getting a Mikuni, ran great with that carb, much easier to tune.

Yes those 2 barrels have 2 different sized jets due to the difference in the intake runner length.

Yes the high speed jets are a different size , if it’s leaking gas sounds like the the float level might be off maybe too high

Generally speaking a 23 carb on a 16 will be a little rich not lean
