Post Torque Lost afte Power Spring Install

My other post dissapeared but here we go. I have a 2000 club car carry all II with fe290 motor. I purchased and installed the power spring the rear driven clutch and then drove it to test hill. Stopped at bottom of hill and then started to climb - Torque was worst! OPened bed while trying to climb and front drive clutch was expanding and spinning like it should but rear clutch and belt not moving. I tried three different drive belts -same issue. FYI in reverse the cart has great torque in reverse.

I had a problem similar, maybe the rear driven clutch is stuck open. It may be jammed open. Take a look at that.

Well it definetely is stuck open while on hill but in service mode and on straight aways it opens without problem.

try to soack your rear clutch with some pb blatser. spray and saturate it over night, then try to drive it agian and see if this loosens the crap in the clutch. if not you may have to pull it off, dissassble it and give it a good cleaning.
i have also heard of some people giveing it a whack with a hammer and it starts to move. but i dont recommend this since the soft brittle cast aluin. and the hard steel head of a hammer make for expensive fixes.

Actually the power spring does not come with tabs. The instructions say that unlike the stock spring they are not needed. ckiguy; i dont think it is a stuck helix issue as it open with no issues on straight aways and in reverse Unless you are suggesting that it is getting stuck due to the extra torque placed on it during hill climb?

I never really had any luck with the power spring on the carry alls.. dont know if its the extra weight of the carry all or what but maybe you should try the clutch machining!.. after i had the mahining done it climbs way better than when i had the power spring!!

Where on the driven clutch is the belt sitting while not running?
Is it down in the pulley any?, level with the top of it? or sticking above the pulley?
Can you post a picture of it?
How far up the drive clutch face does the belt ride before the cart starts to move?
This all will determine what kind of torque you will have (kinda like what gear it is starting off in, 1st or 3rd)

Larry: So you did not see any difference with power spring on carry all's? MIne actuallt got worse? Crash: When on hill and spinning the belt is at the very top of rear driven clutch.
