Sorry about the long post but I think the details are relevant.

I have a ClubCar Pathway. Stock and set to high speed (20 mph?)with regen.
8years ago I bought a new set of Trojan 8v and they have served me and my 4 kids well throughout winter and summer in the hilly Catskills (common load 500 lbs). Normal trip 4-5 miles daily. We def weren’t perfect with charging (plugged in whenever it came back -sometimes multiple trips an day) and maintenance but I feel like we got what we paid for and now their rate of discharge is high.

I opted for the 48v 60 amp Epoch 2 battery set to start. I figure I can add a third if need be. The weight difference between this (approx 70 lbs?) and my LA ( 360 lbs) led me to think that it might suffice.

The batteries are due to arrive today. I’ll post a review here in hope it helps someone.

That's a good long life you got out of them. Is your cart 48v already? You didn't say what year it is, so make sure it is before you install those batteries.
Going up those hills with that weight load will be faster than you had with the lead, you probably couldn't do it at 20 mph before, am I right?
If it's a stock fleet controller, assuming something around 250amp rating, 2 batteries is probably enough, but 3 would make sure the battery is not the limiting factor.

I don’t know the year but it is a 48volt setup - that’s how I got it.
I’m a huge fan of the Trojan brand, I have 10 of their 6 volts pushing a 18 foot pontoon with a Ray electric outboard too. Their just tough to get at a normal price (for me at-least)

I’ll be installing today. I’ll get the year and some pictures later when I do this.

Obviously will charge way faster but $$$$
These seem to predomently LA chargers. It does mention Lifepo4, but seems an afterthought. As i understand them, Lifepo4 cells prismatics are basically solar cells, not having a satisfactory C rating for vehicles. I'll finish reading the threat to the end, but you're making no mention of the BMS, particularly with the Android app and active cell balancing. ie. The Jk B2a20s200p I'm researching for a 2P8s build will handle 20 cells actively. Active balancing, once triggered takes from the high cell and routes juice to the least. This continues to a threshold cell variance that is set in the app. Why can't I series two of these together? https://batteryhookup.com/products/n...wh-lithium-ion A 450A max continuous rating, for a C of 6.7. full charge is 4.2v /cell x 16 = 67v A rule of thumb amongst the solar guys is to avoid that last 20% of charge as it stresses and causes chemical "cracks" in the Lithium matrix. 67*80%=54v Controller overloads at 62v. So set the app to charge to 60v. Sound viable?

Ok, batteries went in and worked without a hitch.
I’m very happy- the cart runs great at about 20mph for approx 4-5 miles with some small hills and I like seeing my regen pop some amps into them when slowing down.

So much lighter and it sometimes presents a problem with weight in the rear seat- impacting steering and braking.

I’m thinking about adding the third battery just bc I want a little more pep going up hill.
(It’s not super slow up hill but you notice the difference)

Edit: I called Epoch with a question and my call went to vm but I didn’t leave a message. They called me back…. Wtf? Can you believe that? I’m all in.
Charging is quick.

The third battery won't give you anymore pep (torque) for the hills. You've already hit the limit being the controller/motor.
