I saw your post about wiring a voltage reducer to the ignition with a relay, so that the reducer only has power with the ignition on. Can you tell me how to do this? I have a '97 yamaha g19 with a 30 amp 48 to 12 reducer. Thanks!

I would not power a voltage reducer through the key switch. Consider wiring it straight to the battery plus and negative through a separate fused line and switch.

I have the Madjax voltage reducer. A little high priced, but it has the wire that works from the key switch to turn the reducer off for the main 12vdc power and another wire for constant power for the radio memory. Install was simple. Sometimes you gotta pay the price for what it does and how simple it is to install.

You can get the relay for <$10 off eBay, i.e. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Golf-Cart-Ba...item35cd161031
Relay can be activated from key switch signal sent back to controller, no need to run additional wire.

sorry to resurrect an old thread but having a few potential issues with newly hooked up voltage reducer.
2016 Yamaha Drive. Only thing running through reducer is headlights and 2 4" LED lights so draw is extremely small. each is run through its own inline fuse as well.

I Wired 12v+ lead direct to key switch to kill power when key is off... However it seems as if there is a capacitor discharge. When i turn key off and remove it the light on my aux LED switch dims for 15-20 seconds until fully going away. Solenoid also clicks at around 15-20 seconds after key is removed.
Is there an issue with the reducer possibly?
