1999 yamaha G16A gas problem need help!!
A friend of mine, has a 1999 yamaha G16A gas golf cart that will not run. I pulled the oil dip stick out and gas mixed with oil started overflowing out. I unscrewed the oil cap and the same thing happened. No, He did not mix the oil and gas together before he filled his tank. I checked the gas tank and It was pure gas. Can anyone help with this issue?

Quote:
Clean the carb good then check for a bad needle needle seat float The float might need to be adjusted. What is happening is the needle is not stopping flow of gas. |

Not real sure about this thought, so need to have the experts chime in. Is it possible to have the fuel pump pulse diaphragm crack and inhale gas into the crankcase via the pulse line?? If that is possible, this could be the problem.

Re: 1999 yamaha G16A gas problem need help!!
You should probably check it first!! There is a "pulse" hose that goes from the fuel pump to the crankcase. These "pulses" from the crankcase are what actuates the pump diaphragm which in turn causes the pump to pump fuel to the carb. I would pull the hose from the crankcase and do a vacuum check to make sure the pump diaphragm is not cracked. I believe this hose should hold a vacuum when applied to it and sealed. I suppose you could use something like a turkey baster to apply a vacuum to it to check for fuel. I'd be careful not to just go and suck on it for fear you may get a mouthful of fuel. I was hoping one of the experts might chime in with actual experience here. Hope this is helpful. RAY

Not seen it but it is possible. Fuel could get into engine via overflow carb and into cylinder and leak around rings to oil.....or via pulse hose to crank. Also check the gas tank vent, but no fuel should not be able to get through pump to pulse hose.

I don't get a lot of vacumn off the motor to pump the fuel. I replace the fuel pump, cleaned the carb. Installed all new hoses and changed the oil fuel filters & air fliter. It runs for a while and then it wants to die. Have to choke it to get it to run again and then it dies.
