1999 Transporter New Project with 36 volt motor
Just picked up this project. None of the wiring is there and the body is rough, but the price was right and when I get back from work in a month I'll get started on it.
Anyone know anything about the controller? It was bought new and never wired up. The motor is a 36 volt. Will I have any heat issues running the 48 volt controller on the 36 volt motor? I want to lift it and put some big tires, for off road and slow speeds, my old ezgo would overheat when I creep along. Hopefully that won't be the case with this controller. I attached pictures, but the controller is FSIP controller 48V tested at 480 amps 50%. Anyone know what that means? I'll post more pictures of my progress when I get back and start working on it. I will more than likely have a few questions on the wiring, but FSIP website did have a diagram so I may be ok. |

I'm not sure about the controller, but a 36 volt motor on 48 volts will give you more torque and speed

Awesome! I like torque.
Couldnt find an OBC or a solenoid, does this cart not use OBC? The wiring is all over the place so there is no telling what I will need. |

Got a solenoid from Scottyb, got everything wired up. The place where I am stuck is that since there is no OBC I have no yellow wire off the small negative post on the new solenoid going in to OBC. Can I just run that to B- on the controller? Since I have no charger yet I was going to buy a charger that shuts itself off when the batteries are charged, so no need for an OBC as far as charging is concerned.
Then run from B- on the controller to negative on the battery pack? |

Got the reverse buzzer to work! I consider that progress. Thanks to scottyb for helping me get the solenoid wired up right. Anti arcing microswitch is not clicking and shows no continuity so I'll be replacing that tomorrow and see what I can get. I did get a few clicks from the solenoid when pressing the pedal but no movement. So maybe I fried the microswitch? Showing 49.7 volts when I test from positive main cable on the solenoid to b- on the controller.

Turns out the anti arcing microswitch was the problem. Now I just need to either lay down some ply wood or take it to the welder to get the battery box fixed right, its missing one cross member to support the batteries.
Then order the lift and tires! |
