Smile Cheap bed from porch rails

my resource pile ( junk) was getting real scarce when my father in law put in some railing on his porch.

I cleaned everything up for him and just couldnt throw away good straight metal.

I was going to use a old garden wagon when I started looking at the sections of the porch rail. Then I measured it hmm 32" tall and one section was about 48" wide.
measured some more and then got out the sawzall and started cutting.
I ended up with 1" angle iron across the seat supports, two supports in the rear to hold the bed up off a old motorcycle frame, 2 48" fence posts, 1 section of porch railing 32" by 48" and then two pieces of porch railing. 32" by 18", 1 piece of cast off plywood siding for a bed. two nights of welding and came up with a pretty sturdy bed.
I still have to make a tailgate for it.

Are you gonna liner it with sheet metal so all your stuff doesn't fall out of it?
I made this one out of sheet metal we took out of a horse trailer and some decorative rail scrapings......
Now you can throw the weedeater and the gas can etc. in the back and get to work beating the weeds back around your place! LOL! That is about the handiest addition to a ranch cart that there is !!!!!!!
Costs = next to nuthin' like yours, talk about cheap mods. eh?

I already put a plywood bottom in it. I need to put sides and and a front on it. Plus a tailgate. We used it last night to take some hay to the cows and hay went every where
funniest thing was that with the kids in the back. I found a bump and floored it for a wonderful wheelie!.

That box looks great!

Special accessoires are always the best when you can make them yourself for little or no cost..
