Install 400-500 controller?
What is the impact of installing a 400-500amp controller on a system with stock 3.1 Club Car motor? Other items have been upgraded - HD solenoid, F&R and 4g cables? How will this affect the motor? Programmable verses non-programmable controller?

Re: Install 400-500 controller?
Your stock motor will run at full speed and your torque will just about double. I'm guessing she will do about around 19-21 MPH with very noticable acceleration.
With a programable controller you will have access to adjust all the parameters via supplied software and your laptop. Programable controllers cost more, but I believe they are worth the extra cost. FYI: http://www.alltraxinc.com/Products.html |

Re: Install 400-500 controller?
A larger controller will increase the motor's accessibility to amperage, assuming all conductors are properly sized. The increase in amperage will increase torque or power. In a series cart it will not increase speed but, it will allow the motor to turn a larger tire which which will increase speed... hope this helps.

Re: Install 400-500 controller?
Noted on the increase in torque but not in motor revolutions to increase speed, installed 6:1 gears and it motors around very well, I “thought” a higher amp controller would increase the motor revolutions to provide some increase in speed. I will leave stock controller installed, looking toward difference in V-glide potentiometer and MCOR upgrade. The cart runs well, top speed just under 21mph, in reading other threads there are comments about replacement or upgrade to MCOR. Would an upgrade be worth the effort, or can the potentiometer be tweaked?
I meet the guidelines for Virgina LSV, but just looking to see if I can tweak some items for better peformance. |

Re: Install 400-500 controller?
Install a 36v motor in it and you should bump your speed by 30%.
Call Plum Quick and ask them about it. |

Been talking with PQ, worried about heat and amp draw. Still running #'s

But then the 6:1 gears we to have resolved "my need for speed"... well not really, it did go from 14 to 21, but not as advertised.

Re: Install 400-500 controller?
You would be better off with 8:1 gears and the 36v motor but as you already have the 6:1 installed, I understand PQ's concern about the motor.
You could always go to a 36v Assassin Motor but the cost is up there. I'm sure they will find the solution for you. With all this going on, make sure you have your battery pack fused. |

Can you provide website link for a fuse assy? Where would I install in system?
Thanks, OC |
