Motor and controller getting very hot

My GE 500 amp controller (flight systems) is getting very hot and shutting down, my motor ( plum quick bandit ) is also too hot, actually both of them are too hot to touch after running a very short distance, my only thoughts are maybee it could be corosion on the cables, I do have some on the + 48 volt post going to the solenoid, all others look good.

Once things cool off all is good till it gets hot again. I plan on cleaning the post just wondering if thats the problem or not.

This sounds like more of a load problem than the cables. It sure won't hurt to check and clean all of them. Do they get hot as well? Do you drive on soft ground or rather steep hills? Check to see if your brakes may be dragging. The cart should push easily on a paved surface. This is all I can think of right offhand!

PACK CABLES A LITTLE WARM, PACK + AND - not very hot at all, some hills. brakes are fine .

it makes no sense with 2 cables thurout almost as if its getting constant power for some reason when it shouldn,t...................................

Did this problem just start with these previously installed items, or have you just put on the motor and controller? Regardless, I would suggest having the current flow checked at a shop. I'm going to say that it's more than likely the motor, because I don't see how a controller would overheat unless it has to supply more current than its duty cycle is designed for. If you can't get a current flow test done, I would give PQ a call and see what their tech thinks. They may want you to send the motor back to them for testing. Good Luck with it! Hopefully it'll be something simple!
Edit: I would call PQ regardless. If you can get a current flow test first, though. It'll give them something to go on. :)

Its done this since I put on the controller and motor, but only at a certain place we camp, rather large park, everywhere else I guess the controller has time to cool off before I use the cart again.

scott can you get a temp gun to put on motor when its hot? controllers sometimes you have to install a fan for them ( sometimes ) motors do get pretty hot but how hot???...........................................8 )

No temp gun, but when things shut down you cannot put your hand on either one of them.

The first time it did this I thought that because I did not replace the pack - going through the OBC, that was why things got hot, the stock 6 gauge - wire was the choke point to the whole thing, well I replaced that wire, do a search of my threads and you will see what I did, I figured that would fix the problem , I was wrong.
