Default 2007 Yamaha Drive Elect/ Speed Controller

Hi there,
I have a 2007 Yamaha Drive Electric Cart that I purchased from a private seller. This cart is SLUGGISH and slow. From everything that I have read I cannot increase the cart's speed without the PTV code from an authorized dealer. Problem is, I've already installed lights, etc....and the nearest dealer to me that can do this upgrade is nearly 4 hours away. This where I have a couple of questions. One, has anyone come up with some sort of "hack" or workaround to the Genius System's "governing" of speed on these carts. Two, if I were to just replace the speed controller on my cart, would this give me more speed? I mean this thing is probably only runnning 6-8mph. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Default Re: 2007 Yamaha Drive Elect/ Speed Controller

if you have a standard ydre cart it should run 12-14 mph. programming the controler will only yield you to 16-18 mph. IMO i have done this on have not really felt the diff.

if you are only going 6-8mph than you have an issue and programming the controller iwll not help you. but being able to scan the controller for codes is a start.

If it has the 12v Trojan batteries tht may be some of your issue. Trojan can NOT build a good 12V battery.. US battery leads in the 12v battery right now.
