I meant with a digital meter on a 48v cart, what is the reading for low batteries?

Not sure if it is different from year to year. I have an 08 drive and was told the red and white wire is the one to splice in to on the key switch. The other wire is red and yellow.

So if you have the 2 wire meter, do you splice the red to the red and white switch wire, and attach the black to the negative side of the battery pack?

Not that it really matters that much but I don't wire into the switch. You have to run the negative back to the pack so I just run the positive back there as well. Put an inline 3amp fuse in the positive wire at the pack. I also put a simple on/off toggle switch on the dash in the positive wire to be able to turn it on or off when I want without having to turn on the key switch. Works for me.

I could wire it with a toggle switch. Golf carts need as many toggle switches as you can fit.

Yep, and plenty of "scotch block" wire taps too...

Zip ties are only needed if you actually connect them to something. A couple bucks for a lighted toggle switch. You put about 10 of them on your overhead console just so people ask what all those switches are for.
