Default Individual battery charging

I have some 8 volt batteries that I know were good about a year and half ago. I need to charge them but I do not have an 8 volt charger.
Is it possible to charge them with a standard car 12 v olt charger?
To me it doesn't sound right but the kids at autozone said that is what they do and use slow trickle charge. (2 amp).

Yes it is possible. We have went over this before. It is not with out warnings.
Try using the Search button first. I will help to look also.

You could also just charge 2 batteries at a time with a 12 volt car charger. That will get some juice into the old batteries. Like Garage said - this is a repeating topic of discussion - Use the search! Good luck

Yes, Mike is correct. Charging 2 at a time would be much safer. Please excuse my post. I was thanking ooooooofffffffffffffff. Well I don’t know what I was thinking of. Thanks Mike. Maybe you can explain to Neal how to hook the two batteries to one charger. This would be called series, right. I'm not to good with all the technical terms.

This diagram was drawn for two 6v but it works the same for two 8v.... My shop preference is for one 8v on a 2amp 12v charger with an wall timer.... I use 30 minute with a rest interval of 15 - 20 minutes depending up the TEMPERATURE of the battery..... too hot and some damage can be done

Thanks for the quick repsonses guys. I did use search and couldn't come up with what I needed. I also read thru most all electric forum stickies this morning for over an hour. That is why I posted after I couldn't find what I needed.

So I can use a 12v charger on two batteries wired in series as I can tell from the diagram. Should I use 10 amp or 2 amp? How long?

Or I can use the charger on one battery at the 2 amp setting. Only for 30 minutes and let the battery cool 15 to 20 minutes between charges.

I would imagine I risk damaging the battery or even exploding it from over charging. The batteries are at ambient temp right now. Around 55 degrees.

This place is great and thanks again for your help. If you have more info please let me know of more recommedations.

One stupid question:
I asssume I need to isolate the one or two batteries that are charging from the rest of the pack?
