Re: Individual battery charging
Ok guys here is an update.
I spent all day in the shop. Good to be able to do that. I charged one up for 5 minutes at 10 amp. t didn't get hot and had 6 volts. I decided to top off all batteries with water and added an aspirin to each cell, I had a headache and it looked like they did too. LOL. Some took an entire dixie cup full! Wow! They must have been empty. I then charged each 8 volt for 30 minutes at 2 amp. then switched to another battery. After I did all of them I had 28.8 volts across the pack but it was just enough to allow the charger to charge them. I chrged them till it shut off, about 2 hours. I was able to barely move the cart till the batteries died again. I then recharged them, about 5 hours this time. I was then able to drive one lap thru the yard. It died soon. Now I am on another charge cycle. I am hoping I can revive some of these batteries. I know I need to replace them all but this is a 24 year old cart and I am trying to stay on a budget. If I blow my budget I might as well get a newer cart, Which I am already looking for. I just can't see putting alot of money in this old cart and then have it nickle and dime me to death. At this time I am pretty sure that I definately have one battery that I cannot revive, But I am still trying. I really want to thank all of you guys that have helped me so far. Especially Scottyb, he has helped me on numerous threads. Thanks to all. I will keep you posted. |

Re: Individual battery charging
Let's hope you haven't been charging than any when they were low on fluid?
Anyway, that doesn't matter for these batteries because they are toast. You WILL NOT REVIVE these batteries. We could continue to post and discuss this, but no matter what, they still won't be resurected. You are not the first (or the last) to feel that they will be the "lucky" ones and avoid the dreaded battery purchase. Save your shop time for something more useful, this task is wasting your time... |

Thanks Mikesm-toys.
I know the truth but am denying it right now. I looked at two carts today. Is $1500 for and '02 EZ go with '07 model trojans a good deal? I also looked at some real new CC' but nobody to talk to there. |

Re: Individual battery charging
That's a fair deal on the EZGO. Used batteries are used batteries, though

Re: Individual battery charging
I am really wanting a mid '90's because it will just be a farm cart. These look to good to get muddy. LOL.
Thanks Mike I wish I were down your way, you have some nice rides. |

Re: Individual battery charging
In our area, a decent running cart is $2,000.00 and up. Be cautious of the older models, as most people buy them for the price and end up spending more on parts and repairs...

Re: Individual battery charging
I am very handy in the shop , that is if I know what I am doing. I am not afraid o fmuch though.
Someone recommended a gasser is what I need for farm application. What do you think? Sorry for the stupid question in the electric forum, but I had to ask. |

Re: Individual battery charging
a gas cart is superior to an electric cart for ranch or farm use in my opinion Asprin? where did you get that idea?
