Default battery water

I meant to ask this in my earlier post but forgot. What causes the water to "disappear" so quickly from my batteries? I don't use it very much and it is not on the charger very much, either. 1994 Marathon 36v, The batteries are less than a year old. Thanks.

Is distilled water the same as the melted ice after a bourbon?

Never dilute Jack Daniels. That is sinful.

1. You may be loosing some water due to evaporation, but you loose it all year around due to electrolysis.
When electricity passes through the electrolyte, the water (H2O) decomposes into the two elements it is made from, Hydrogen and Oxygen.
The "Boiling" you hear when you charge the batteries is the Hydrogen and Oxygen gasses bubbling to the surface. There is not any heat evolved, so it really isn't boiling, it's "Gassing".

2. The batteries should be recharged after each use and at least once a month when not used.
Otherwise the relatively new batteries will get really old really fast.

You should have gotten your batteries charged more often.
