What to look for in a golf cart

Hello, new to the site and I have been looking into purchasing a golf cart.

I really wanted to go with a 48 volt but one of the deals is I need to get rid of a toy to get a toy and if trading people seem more willing to give up their 36 volts carts.

What do I need to look for? Meeting a fellow tomorrow with a '05 36 volt Ez Go.

He says the batteries have just been replaced.

I see by looking around on the forums their are many acronyms I am not familiar with such as frame types, models, etc.

The sticker on this one states 2.0 HP and 1.49 KW.

I do wish to lift at some point, do 36 volt carts do ok when lifted?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Outlaw, just so you knowwhat you are getting, check out this thread so you will know the different drive systems.

and can you lift a 36v cart, most certainly! but things you need to know is that golf carts were made and designed (both 36v and 48v) to carry two passangers and their clubs on manicured turf, riding on 18.5" tires. when doing things like putting rear seats, lift kits, bigger tires.....you will need to upgrade the drive system with HD equipment, such as a bigger controller, solenoid, f/r switch, cables, etc.....

what you truely need to decide is how you intend to use your cart and upgrade it accordingly.

Yeah I actually subscribed to that thread a little earlier and I reckon from looking at the diagram that the sepex might be the better version?

Also, is there a thread somewhere that shows all the acronyms the site uses?

I see that diagram shows the PDS, that was one of the questions I have.

I think I have seen different frame types also?

IE 36v "PDS"

hmmmmmmm not that I know of

but certainly you know what 36v is for..... 36 volt.

PDS, stands for Precision Drive System


btw.....google is your friend, if nothing else, put in GOLF CART and the acroymn and hit go.....its what I did a lot of at first.

Acronyms are words (RADAR). Abbreviations aren't (PDS).

Ezgo has made carts with 4 different drive systems to date. All early carts were Series drive, then came the Sepex drive systems DCS & PDS, Lately the RXV is AC drive.
Early carts were made on the Marathon frame and later carts were made on the TXT frame, today's carts are on the RXV frame
